DVD/GPS system
As some of you might know, the new model of the Cruze already comes with an OEM DVD/GPS system but for earlier Cruze models, we had to rely on 3rd party system from different brands but mostly made in China (Cruze is one of the biggest selling model in China, so there's a huge demand for after market accessories there).
Before deciding on installing a DVD/GPS system ask yourself these questions..
1. Do you use navigation all the time & do not want those detachable units?
2. Are you into a good ICE (In-Car Entertainment) system & is concerned about the sound quality?
3. Are you changing just for cosmetic reason? (looks better?)
If you answer yes for all 3 above, you will have to invest a lot more on improving the speakers & perhaps an amp. Reason being, these after market DVD/GPS system do not produce a high enough output for you to obtain good sound quality (SQ). It may even be worse than the OEM SQ. As you all know, the Cruze monitor slot is unique and after market offerings from the likes of Kenwood, Pioneer etc cannot fit into the slot. There must be a trade off somewhere if you wanna use this system and the trade off comes in the form of the SQ. BUT it's still salvageable if you change the speakers AND add an amplifier.
Of course, if you answer yes to No.1 only, by all means go ahead. However, if you are just looking to change the aesthetics of the interior, please be advised that changing to these 3rd party DVD/GPS will first of all void the warranty of your OEM system and most likely or not, you will lose a few car settings because of the inadequate software setting. Look for one with a CAN-BUS function where you can retain the steering wheel controls and most important car settings.
Here's what I gained & lost after installing the DVD/GPS system...
1. Gained "on the fly" navigation
2. Gained bluetooth system (phone & music streaming)
3. Gained USB slot (for earlier model Cruze, there's only an AUX slot)
4. Gained ipod/iphone integration
5. Gained RDS radio system (not available curiously on earlier models)
6. Gained DVD playback capability
7. Lost some audio controls (minimum volume level, volume level increases when the speed goes up etc)
8. Lost the OEM chime
9. Lost the seat belt warning chime
10. SQ worse than OEM (fixed by changing speakers but still inadequate)
11. Lost permanent temperature display
After market DVD/GPS system is cheaper than the OEM offered currently and in some cases some features are better than OEM. For example, the signal capture of my system is excellent. Even on cloudy days, GPS signal can be gained in less than a minute. But of course, if you opt for the OEM version, the system display and fuctions will be retained but at a much higher price.

Faiz..I think can get the TV working by installing a TV antenna..not 100% sure but if firmware then need the manufacturer to update.
Kiguss...there not many accessories shop stocking Cruze's stuffs but I did saw one advertised in the On The Road magazine..I bought together with 5 others from Motevo distributor in PJ.

GPS Unit for 2011 model
Hello guys,
Im new in here,
i got this deal with Naza (Since all Chevrolet) upon buying Cruze LT SE 2012 model which comes with original device for Cruze 2010/11 model. My question what was the brand of GPS model? How can i verified that its genuine from Cruze 2010/11 model?
Will i jeopardise few of the standard features if im installing this device?
Need your reply guys.
Thanks.

As far as I know, the so called OEM GPS model Naza is giving is curiously call "Hyundai". And believe me as this is not an OEM device as if it is, the buttons on your dash will be different (ie. comes with navigation buttons). But if it's installed by Naza, you can be sure that it will be able to retain most of the stock settings and not missing some like I mentioned above.
